Cord affiliate party Ford Kenya on Wednesday suffered a blow after a section of officials from Bungoma County defected to Jubilee.
According to the 20 officials, they defected after realizing that the opposition was leading them nowhere.
The officials led by former Lwandanyi councilor Robert Wanyera said that they had suffered for long by being in the opposition.
"We have seen nothing in the opposition. We have suffered long enough. It was time to make a bold move to Jubilee Party which has a future for us," said Wanyera.
Wanyera further stated that they were following footsteps of former party chairman John Munyes who decamped to Jubilee.
" Our national chairman John Munyes moved to Jubilee Party. We are following his footsteps and more defectors are coming . We have suffered enough in Cord," he added.
The officials were received by Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka in Webuye who asked them to remain loyal to the party.
"Let us remain in the government where the late Wamalwa Kijana left us . You cannot succeed in the opposition," said Lusaka.
