The leadership row that has threatened to split Moses Wetangula's Ford Kenya party is far from over after 40 party branches boycotted the meeting that had been called by the party leader.
Instead, the branches resolved to hold a parallel meeting on Saturday in Thika.
Wetangula who is one of the co-principals in Cord has been fighting for his life in the party with a section of members plotting for his deregistration as party chairman.
In a bid to quell dissenting voices within the outfit, the Bungoma Senator opted to convene a National Governing Council meeting that will be held on November 26, at the Bomas of Kenya.
However, his effort has been clawed back by the decision of the members to hold a parallel meeting on the same day.
According to the rebel party officials, Wetangula has failed in managing the party and that it is high time he relinquishes leadership, an indicator that his future in the party may as well be sealed on Saturday.
"We have finalized the plans for the Thika meeting and it will proceed as planned so members can rescue Ford Kenya from a possible collapse under Wetangula," said National Organizing Secretary Peter Munyae.
Despite all the uncertainties that have overshadowed the Saturday meeting at the Bomas of Kenya, Deputy party leader Bonnie Khalwale who is also the Kakamega Senator said the meeting will go on as planned.
Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi said the rebel group led by Trans Nzoia Senate aspirant Ken Wafula who set the ongoing wrangles in the party to motion is used by their rivals to cripple the party.
