Ford People party has unveiled a systematic programme that will see successful election of leaders from the grassroots to national level.
Interim party chair Mwancha Okioma on Wednesday said the elections will restore harmony within the party following months of intrigues that led to the ouster of former chair Henry Obwocha.
He said the elected members will embark on a series of campaigns in grassroots through the elected leaders to revamp the party which finished third in 2002 presidential polls in which Simeon Nyachae was the flag bearer.
“As interim officials, we invited a team of strategists and have helped us draft an elaborate election calendar. We will go to polls in April 2016 and thereafter, we expect the grassroots officials to embark on a series of campaigns to popularize the party,” he said when addressing media at Kisii hotel.
Mr Okioma ruled out possibilities of merging with Jubilee Alliance party and insisted that the party will be keen to field candidates in all the elective posts excluding presidency.
“We are not ready to amalgamate with Jubilee party. As a party, we have manifesto and ideologies which we must preserve. We will not field presidential candidate but we will field candidates in other elective seats across the country,” he said.
The former Kitutu Masaba MP defended his move of leading a rebellion that led to ouster of former chair Henry Obwocha and Secretary General Albert Nyaundi terming the action as timely and bold.
“As a team the move (ouster) was bold and timely. This is a large party that we cannot sit down and watch people mutilating it. All eligible party members are free to come and contest for seats. If they are elected, we and good. I am ready to support the winners,” he said.
