Ford People party has launched a massive registration of new members in Kisii and Nyamira counties in efforts to popularise the party.
The party has 10 parliamentary legislators from Gusii region.
Speaking while officially opening the party offices in Kisii, party secretary general Albert Mbaka Nyaundi said that the issue of party from regions is not new and therefore Gusii as a region does not have an option but to ride using a vehicle that is democratically a unifying factor.
“Look at all regions from the whole country, they are all represented politically by a certain party that is popular there. Then why are we Kisiis praising each politician who has a party to market selfishness?” asked Nyaundi.
He urged youths and women to register fully into a party that will cater for their ambitions, academically, professionally and politically to avoid being used and wait for political reward that does not help many.
Steve Arika, the Kisii and Nyamira Ford People party representative appreciated the youths for having shown the willingness to support the party of Gusii people that have seen Gusii region benefit from the national government in the past.
“Can any party claim to achieve what this party achieved when it represented the whole of Gusii?” posed Arika.
He accused other parties for dividing people along clan and tribal alignments.
In recent weeks, leaders from Kisii and Nyamira counties have been in the forefront asking their electorates to help promote unity of Omogusii on development and political basis insisting in the formation of one party harmonisation.
