Foreign companies have been cautioned against importing construction materials once they land Government contracts.
Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale has said the country will not realize and sustain development when local manufacturing is not supported.
Speaking while moving the Petroleum Exploration, Development Production Bill Duale said foreign companies should consider procuring materials locally to help catapult the development level in the country.
Duale has also called on leaders and residents of northern Kenya to deceased from referring to themselves as marginalized communities amid devolution.
He noted that Garissa, Wajir and Mandera all are receiving over 30 billion shillings annually for various devolved projects.
He called on the leaders and residents in the northern part of the country to fast track projects that will improve the economic status of the whole region.
