The State has warned foreign envoys and diplomats against any attempt to influence the outcome of the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking on Wednesday during a briefing by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 2017 elections preparedness at the Intercontinental Hotel, Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Monica Juma challenged the foreign entities to instead oversee the polls, affirming the government's commitment to a credible process.

“Our election is the reaffirmation of the deepening governance on our continent," she noted.

"We express our commitment, as had been repeatedly expressed by the President, to an election that is free, fair, transparent and credible; and most fundamentally, that will reflect the will of the people,” she added.

This year's elections has been earmarked as one of the hotly contested.
