Jubilee Strategist Washington Makodingo has told off US and European envoys on their threat to impose sanctions and travel bans on leaders perceived to be inciting violence ahead of October 26 repeat polls.

Makodingo has said that no Kenyan leader is 'interested' in going to the US or any of the European capitals for political reasons.

"Robert Godec (US Ambassador) and his team of European envoys have no moral authority to lecture us on elections. Godec is a representative of the worst President US has ever seen in its history and, therefore, should leave Kenya to be," Makodingo told K24 TV on Monday evening.

He added that the envoys also have no right to tell Kenya when to amend her election laws saying Kenya also doesn't 'poke its nose to their internal matters'.

"Our Parliament must legislate anytime there is a need to do so. We do not need their permission whatsoever to do what we must do," he said.

However, Political Analyst Brian Mutie said that the foreign envoys were just playing a guidance role in trying to inculcate the best electoral practices all over the world.

"The envoys are in order and are not dictating anything to Kenyans. Let us heed their advice because these are the international best electoral practices that they are just reminding us of," said Mutie.

The 14 envoys spoke of their concerns after a meeting with the IEBC leadership headed by chairman Wafula Chebukati, with commissioners Consolata Maina, Roselyn Akombe and Paul Kurgat present.

They were critical of the attempts to make changes to electoral laws just days to the repeat poll and demands for staff changes at the IEBC.
