A Nigerian man was on Tuesday charged with raping a USIU student in Nairobi.

Entony Daberechukwu denied ever committing the crime on the 19-year-old and was released on Sh500,000 bond.

He was also ordered to deposit his passport in court before the case is determined.

Daberechukwu was accused of conducting the crime on May 19, on campus following a friend’s birthday bash at Thika Road Mall in Roysambu.

The complainant said she attended the party after 7pm before Daberechukwu joined them.

They drunk until 11pm when they went to another club near campus.

At 1.30am, it is alleged the complainant left for her room together with the accused.

On the way, another friend who had accompanied them left the duo alone.

Court heard that Daberechukwu started kissing the student in the hostel corridors, afterwhic he reportedly took her to his room.

She said she woke up in the morning only to find herself in the man’s bed with her private parts feeling painful.

The case is up for hearing on June 9.
