KRA Customs and Border Control commissioner Julius Musyoki said a Sudanese Mohamed Hassan and Norwegian Abdi Osman were transporting the money from Nairobi to Dubai.

In a statement released on Monday, Musyoki said that the money packaged in 25 bundles of some 178 notes of 500 Euro bills was found hidden in suitcases of trouser linings.

"The money was seized on Thursday at around 10.30 pm at Gate 7 during our shift operations, following intelligence that the two were suspects," he said.

According to him, the passengers who were traveling to Dubai aboard EK722 were scheduled to travel back to Nairobi later on Monday before proceeding to Mogadishu on Wednesday.

"The exhibits are being held at the customs warehouse awaiting issuance of a seizure notice and subsequent handover to police for investigations," said Musyoki.
