Decomposing bodies will no longer overwhelm the General Kago Morgue after a smaller forensic mortuary is established at Kiandutu Health Centre.
Kiambu Deputy Governor Gerald Githinji said that the bodies have been overwhelming the morgue since most of them are unknown.
“Plans are ongoing to set up a new funeral home specifically for use by the police since the police bodies requires special attention,” said Githinji.
Speaking on Friday during the inauguration of the morgue, Githinji said that plans are underway to establish the new morgue in order to maintain the good facilities of the new mortuary.
He added that the Kiambu County government is determined to partner with several investors to foster growth of the county.
“Kiambu is ready to partner with any investor who is willing to cooperate with the county towards achieving economic growth,” added the deputy governor.
Thika West OCPD Shadrack Maithya who was in the same meeting expressed his gratitude to the county government for considering the police department in construction of the police morgue.
“Having our own mortuary will boost our service delivery. The police department will be more efficient,” said the OCPD.
