It will take a miracle for Jubilee to beat the opposition National Super Alliance in North Eastern region an ODM MP has said.
Abdikadir Aden (Balambala) said Jubilee’s discriminative tendencies in apportioning resources will cost it votes in Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, Marsabit and Isiolo counties.
Aden told Uhuru and Ruto and Jubilee aspirants from the region to forget winning in North Eastern because residents were firmly in NASA.
The lawmaker is among politicians in the volatile region who have remained in the opposition despite the government dangling goodies before them with the aim of luring North Eastern leaders into joining Jubilee.
He said Jubilee aspirants should prepare for a rude shock in the region he said has been marginalized by Kenya’s successive regimes since independence.
Balambala, the constituency he represents in Parliament overwhelmingly voted for opposition leader Raila Odinga in 2013.
If Uhuru and Ruto have not done anything for North Eastern in the five years they have been in government, he said, it implies the duo don’t have the interest of the region at heart.
He said unemployment, insecurity, poverty and neglected infrastructure remain challenges clawing the region from realizing development. Aden said the region has some of the worst roads in the country.
He said Raila is the only leader with a transformative agenda that can jack development in Northern Kenya urging residents to ignore Jubilee goodies. He said President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration will ignore them after the August election.
