Speaking during a morning talk show on NTV on Tuesday morning, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator said that Ruto should learn from the experience of Raila Odinga who never received any support from Central Kenya in his quest to become the President of Kenya even after publicly endorsing Kibaki for Presidency in 2002.

According to Midiwo, Ruto will just be used in 2017 and later be rejected after the election.

He also cited the example of Musalia Mudavadi as the living testimony to the fact that the Kikuyu community usually support 'one of their own' when he was dismissed in the run to the 2013 election even after they had struck the deal with Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto to form a coalition.

However, Kandara MP Alice Ng'ang'a dismissed Midiwo saying that they (Kikuyu) are ready to support Ruto in 2022 and whoever believes that their political marriage will end immediately after the 2017 should be prepared for a rude shock come 2022, a sentiment that was echoed by Kiambu Senator Paul Wamatangi.

"Our political alliance is there to stay beyond 2017 and we are very ready to support Ruto's Presidential bid in 2022," said Mr. Wamatangi.

The question of as to whether Ruto will be supported in 2022 has been a subject of speculation in the past few weeks with Kiambu Governor William declaring that it was not a guarantee that they would support Ruto's presidential bid in 2022.
