A section of elders from both Kisii and Nyamira counties now wants NASA's Simba Arati to quit NRM for him to be considered as spokesperson.
In a press conference on Wednesday, they insisted that the outfit remains illegal thus Arati's continued association with it would dent his career.
"We want somone who can negotiate with the government and certainly Arati cannot do that at the moment.
"He should detach himself from NRM since it is an outlawed sect. That is the only way we can tolerate him," said Julius Nyandoro.
The elders also urged all local leaders and residents to give Arati the support he needs so that he can rescue the community that have been for a while politically cold.
