President Uhuru Kenyatta has dismissed NASA's demands of postponing elections if the electronic voting system fails on elections day.

Speaking in Kwale County, Uhuru instead insisted the polls will have to continue on August 8 as planned.

“I raised the issue last year when the opposition started raising queries about the IEBC (Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission) that they are not ready for elections,” said the president.

“We declare that Kenyans will elect leaders of their choice on August 8 so that we can continue with our work,” he added.

He accused NASA of plotting to take power through the backdoor.

“They want a nusu mkate (power sharing) government,” he said.
