President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto stand no chance of garnering more votes in Lamu than National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Odinga in the repeat elections, Wiper Democratic Movement deputy party leader Shakila Abdalla has said. Shakila, who is the former Lamu County Women Representative, said residents will turn up in large numbers to vote for the opposition, arguing that the Jubilee regime has done little to transform their lives. Speaking on Thursday, which was her first time to address journalists after losing her seat, Shakilla said Jubilee leaders were computer generated, and not the people’s choice. She called upon county residents to shun leaders propagating lies when campaigning for their presidential candidate ahead of the repeat poll scheduled for October 26. The vocal politician further said she will work with other NASA leaders to ensure Raila clinches the seat, adding that Lamu is locked in the opposition. “Lamu will never be a Jubilee stronghold and they know it. They did what they did and the people aren’t happy. This has always been a NASA zone and that’s how it will stay. I shall remain the voice of my people whether in office or not,” said Shakilla, as quoted by Baraka FM. She further pointed an accusing finger at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), criticizing it for failing Kenyans in the August 8 general election.
