Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said that Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka will not be given a direct ticket to contest for Presidency in the National Super Alliance (NASA) as per the speculations.
Speaking at Kakuyuni town in Kangundo and Tala town in Matungulu sub-counties, Mutua said that Amani National Congress (ANC) Leader Musalia Mudavadi stands a better chance of being named the presidential candidate because the Luhya community has more numbers compared to the Kamba nation.
“With Western Kenya having a larger voting block than Eastern, the most likely candidate for NASA presidential candidate in 2022 is Musalia Mudavadi,” said Mutua, as quoted by Star.
The lawmaker also said that the best option for the Kambas is backing President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto during the fresh election slated for October 17th.
He also exuded confidence that Jubilee will carry the day after the nullification of President Uhuru’s win. Mutua argued that the nullification was based on the fact that the electoral commission’s failure to adhere to the constitution.
“The court invalidated the poll on grounds of irregularities and illegalities in the process but not the numbers of votes Uhuru garnered on August 8," he added.
