Deputy President William Ruto stands no chance of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta, Koigi wa Wamwere has said.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with a local daily, Koigi said that the second in command dream of ascending to power is not valid. He said that Ruto has proven that he cannot protect the interest of all Kenyans, adding that this will cost him the top when that time comes.
"Kikuyus or any other community must not be scared with politics of blackmail into voting for William Ruto if they don’t believe he will be the best president to protect all Kenyans. Ruto has yet to prove that he can treat Kikuyus and all other communities of Rift Valley equally with Kalenjins,” he said.
The renowned politician also said that Ruto lacks democratic credentials to lead this nation.
The DP has maintained that he will contest for the nation’s top seat in 2022. He is banking on the support of President Uhuru to beat his opponents.
Wiper leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and Senator Gideon Moi are among the leaders who are likely to contest against Ruto.
The handshake between President Uhuru and Raila is likely to complicate matters for Ruto.
