Namwamba, the immediate former ODM secretary general severed links with Raila, after a close relationship of almost nine years over what he called frustrations from top party officials.

And on Wednesday during an exclusive interview with this writer, Abuya Abuya regretted the ‘uncalculated’ move by Namwamba and urged Raila to extend an olive branch to him.

“I have been in politics for a while and my plea is that Raila should forgive his lost son and bring him back home. In politics, people make mistakes and when they realise later, they get embarrassed and remorseful,” he said.

Abuya added: “Namwamba’s move was uncalculated and it could even cost his political career. It’s, therefore, fundamental that he is properly guided and brought back to the system. He is a vibrant politician who should be guided.”

On the formation of the Jubilee Party and recent law on party hopping, Abuya said the party was ‘hurriedly’ formed without observing the trends of politics.

“It’s nice for the Jubilee leadership to bring parties together but again, I think the move was wrong because, in the long run, it’s going to affect some of its members especially during party nominations,” he said.
