Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has rallied the Kalenjin community to vote for the National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga in the August 8 elections.
Ruto also asked the community to forgive the NASA presidential candidate for the wrongs he could have committed against them.
“What sin did Raila Odinga do to us (Kalenjin) that he cannot be forgiven?” wondered Ruto as quoted by the Standard.
He also dismissed claims by Jubilee Party leaders that his position in the opposition alliance's line-up is powerless and that the community will not benefit in a NASA government.
Instead, said the Chama Cha Mashinani party leader said all NASA Pentagon members have equal powers and that he will use his position to bring about development.
“I have heard some people claim that by voting for NASA and I, the Kalenjin will not benefit. Do not be fooled. I am equally powerful and will use that position to deliver development,” said Ruto at Olepolos in Narok South.
The county boss said a NASA government will promote economic growth and also lower the cost of living if it comes into power.
“We need a Kenya where farmers get value for their produce. Jubilee has insulted farmers. Imagine a farmer sells his milk at Sh30 per litre, the same amount is retailing at Sh140 in the supermarket. A farmer has to sell almost eight litres to buy a kilogramme of sugar which is now Sh200,” he said.
Kanu chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno were also present.
