The Ministry of Education has invited form four leavers wishing to join the teaching profession to apply for training.
The recruitment which will start on April 11, 2016 will see deaf and blind applicants get admitted with lower grades compared to their able bodied counterparts.
Director of Basic Education in the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Hussein Abdi, said qualified candidates should apply for the pre-service training in various teacher colleges across the country.
Mr Abdi in a statement asked form leavers interested to train as P1 teachers to present their education certificates and fill registration forms at zonal education offices, adding that the application is free of charge.
He added that after a final selection, the successful candidates will have their admission letters dispatched to their zonal offices.
“The Ministry of Education has invited high school certificate holders wishing to join the teaching profession to apply for primary teacher’s pre-service training for the year 2016,” said Abdi.
He added, “The prospective P1 teachers should have attained a Mean Grade of C in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. Visually and hearing impaired as well as totally deaf and blind applicants should have attained a mean grade of C- in KCSE.”
Qualified candidates will have until April 29, 2016 to submit their applications.
