A form four student at Moi Girls Nangili school has been detained at the Alexandria Cancer Center in Eldoret over a Sh2.5 million medical bill she is unable to pay.

Makrama Kibos sought medical attention at the health facility after medics at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital went on strike.

Sadam Kibos, the father of the student, says he has done all he can to raise the money for her daughter's discharge but all has been in vain.

He says he has been in the hospital since July 2017.

“I have tried my best to raise the money but so far I have been able to raise very little and that’s why am appealing to well-wishers to come to my rescue so that my child can join her fellow students as they prepare for their final examinations,” said Mr. Kibos.

So far, he has been able to raise Sh500,000 and a balance of Sh2.5 million is still required before she can be discharged.

Medics at the facility said she was due for discharge four months ago but she cannot leave due to the pending bill.
