Nakuru residents have been told to form Residents Associations (RA) to keep their MCAs on track, otherwise no project will be relevant in their wards.

The Nakuru Residents Association chairman Ephraim Dumba said this today during a project assessment in Kaptembwa Ward.

“The RA keeps an engagement between leaders and the constituents. This helps in bringing the MCA close to the people they serve,” said Dumba.

“In Kaptembwa, the residents association was formed in 2012 and this helped the residents choose a local leader. We are having several clinics and the roads are now in good condition,” revealed Naomi Njoroge, a resident.

Kaptembwa ward member of county assembly Dan Ambale said the Kaptembwa RA has helped him in solving problems in the ward.

“It has helped and eased the leadership style in my ward particularly during the time when we had grievances between tenants and landlords. We settled the issue by incorporating the views from all sides,” said Ambale.

The residents’ association chair urged members of the public from other wards to form similar associations to help them speak in one voice.

Other wards in Nakuru that have resident associations include Kiamaina and Solai. It is due to this association that members of Solai Ward are demanding for good roads.
