Youths across Nakuru County have been asked to form groups in order to receive larger portions of development funds.

Speaking when he toured Kuresoi North constituency, Governor Kinuthia Mbugua said that large portions of funds were being considered for youths in groups.

He said that though individual youths are being given the funds those who are in groups are likely to get more.

Mbugua said that the funds being given are meant to empower the youths with the main aim of fighting unemployment.

“We want to encourage young people to form groups and apply for the development funds,” said Mbugua.

The governor said that several youths and groups have already been given the funds and started business.

Mbugua said that more funds would be allocated starting next year noting that youths who have not applied should do so.

The Governor at the same time cautioned youths against using the funds for other purposes saying the money was meant for development. He added that those who misuse the money will be made o account for it.

To reduce cases of misuse of the funds, the Governor said the beneficiaries will be sensitized and trained.

He noted that various forums have been started to equip the youths with entrepreneurial skills.
