The race for Form One slots for KCPE 2017 candidates is set to officially start Monday.
The process will be opened by Education CS Fred Matiang’i at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development from 8:30am.
It will cover candidates joining the country's 105 national schools until Friday when the exercise will switch to candidates joining extra-county schools.
Key officials at the ministry have been pitching camp in Naivasha for the last one week to refine the list of candidates to join national schools.
“Candidates joining form one in boarding schools will be accessing their instructions online,” said Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang in a circular to all principals signed by acting Director General of Basic Education Robert Masese.
“It is the Ministry of Education’s plan that candidates, together with their parents and guardians, must know the schools where their children will be admitted to in January,” Education CS Fred Matian'gi was earlier quoted.
“Placement of candidates into public secondary schools will be based on merit, quotas, equity, affirmative action and student choice. Efforts will also be made to ensure that children from disadvantaged backgrounds continue with their education when the selection is done,” he said.
