The reporting date of form one students has been extended from Friday, January 12 to Wednesday, January 17.
In a statement sent to newsrooms, education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang said that contrast in the number of students who have reported to schools in different regions in the country informed the decision.
“Due to the overwhelming turn up of students in some regions, low turnout in others especially the coast region and being considerate as not to lock out any child. The cabinet secretary has authorized the extension of the reporting deadline from Friday, January 12 to Wednesday, January 17,” reads the statement signed by the PS.He said that replacements will be carried out on January 19 and not on January 17 as communicated by the ministry earlier adding that students who will be selected during the replacement exercise will be expected to report to school by January 23.
This comes after acting education CS Fred Matiang’i on Friday during a meeting with education and security stakeholders at the Kenya School of Government (KSG) on Friday raised concerns over drug consumption by students.
