A form two student committed suicide at Kibathi village in Nyahururu after his father failed to transfer him to a school of his choice.
The body of the form two student at a school in Maralal, Samburu county was found dangling from the roof of his room by neighbours who went to visit yesterday morning.
According to residents, the boy who lives with the father at the home after his mother passed on had been involved in a quarrel with the dad a day before.
“The boy had not reported to school yet and he had been pleading with the father to transfer him.The day before, they had quarreled with the father with the deceased insisting that he would not report back to the school,” said Lucy Njeri.
He said that the father had left for other duties later in the evening and that was when the boy committed suicide.
“We went to check into the home and were shocked to find the body of the boy who had committed suicide using a rope dangling from the roof of his room. That is when we alerted the father who was away. We also called on the police,” she added.
Nyandarua west OCPD Joseph Cheruiyot confirmed the incident saying that further investigations would be carried out to establish the real cause of the death.
The body was moved to Nyahururu county referral hospital mortuary.
