The legality of the controversial January, 30 swearing-in of Raila Odinga has been the subject of raging debate with positions taken depending on where ones' political loyalties lie.
Former Attorney General and current Busia Senator Amos Wako has made his expert intervention into that debate, throwing his high-profile weight behind NASA supremo Raila Odinga.
Senator Wako hit out at the government over its crackdown on opposition leaders, saying that Raila would not be cowed by threats emanating from the state.
He said that the veteran opposition supremo had been charged before with treason but had survived.
''These things that they are doing have already happened and Raila was there. Raila will not be cowed. Somebody said that Raila would be charged with treason thinking that Raila would be cowed. Is there somebody who can threaten Raila?'' Amos Wako said.
The former Attorney General spoke yesterday in Kakamega during the funeral of the father of ODM's Director of Communications Philip Etale.
Senator Wako's supportive words are very significant as he served as an advisor to the government on legal affairs.
He also hit out at the government for not respecting the rule of law.
