Former clerk of Homa Bay County Citizen’s Association George Okiki risks legal suit for masquerading as the association’s official.

In a demand letter dated September 16, 2015 to Okiki, the association’s chairman Walter Opiyo through Kilonzo and Company advocates wants him to stop masquerading as the official or face legal suit.

Opiyo said Okiki ceased to be associated with the association (Bunge La Wenyenchi) in 2013 and was removed as an official.

He said the notice letter follows an article published in a local daily on December 25, 2014 that quotes Okiki as the clerk for Bunge La Wananchi for Homa Bay.

The article is titled ‘Disgruntled Aspirant Dumps ODM to vie on other party tickets’.

Okiki in a notice dated April 7, 2015 stated and signed a statement released for media as the clerk and acting speaker for the society.

“Our client advises us that the association is registered as a society under Certificate of Registration no.36742 dated February 2012 where you ceased to be a member,” reads the letter.

In the letter signed by Kethi Kilonzo, the interim office bearers were elected for the society in 2013 and that Okiki is not one of the officials.

“We thereby demand that you cease and desist from making any statement for and on behalf of the organisation as a member or an official failure of which legal action will be taken against you,” states the letter.

Okiki has also been warned to cease and desist from threatening the officials and other members of the society.

“The article in which you associated your political opinion with our clients’ society has caused the society damage and our client hereby reserves the right to institute legal proceedings for the loss and damages they have suffered,” Kethi said.
