Former Bandari Football Club team manager Alfred Achayo will be laid to rest tomorrow (Saturday) at his Kiswaro Village home in Rarienda, Siaya County.

Achayo, 43, died on the way to hospital on January 4, after suffering a heart attack.

Popularly known as 'Obwaka', he rose through ranks from player, captain, assistant coach and finally team manager at the Coast-based club in his over two decades football career.

Bandari FC board member Salim Sumra said the entire club's players and officials will attend the ceremony to bid farewell to Obwaka.

"After burial, the team will travel to Nairobi to play in a tournament as part of the team's preparation for the new season," he said.

Sumra announced that following Achayo's demise, club's goalkeeper and captain Obungu Oburu will take over the team manager position.

"We have confidence Oburu will manage will manage the team to our satisfaction," the board member said.
