Popular blogger Robert Alai has accused former British Broadcasting Cooperation journalist Ann Mawathe of allegedly violating media ethics in pursuit of CNN awards.
Mawathe, currently working for Citizen TV, did a story on pregnant woman who was undergoing suffering due to the ongoing doctor’s strike.
And on his Facebook post on Sunday, Alai questioned Mawathe’s integrity, arguing that she should have helped her interview before doing an interview with her.
“Ann Mawathe is desperate for CNN award. She desperately needs it because last time she won it along Rashid Ibrahim. In chase for fame, Ann throws away all regard to human life,” he said.
“She is hungry for accolades from CNN because that is the god of Kenyan Journalists. An award from CNN is like a pass to heaven to our local journalists,” he said.
Alai further supports his argument by quoting former journalist and second liberation fighter Koigi Wamwere who he says that recommends that a journalist helps in a horror situation before taking photos or videos.
