Former Cabinet Minster Samuel Poghisio has announced his interest to vie for the West Pokot senatorial seat.
According to Poghisio, he will first assist current senator John Lonyangapuo achieve the gubernatorial seat ahead of the next general election.
“We want to unite with Lonyangapuo so that we can walk together to ensure he becomes governor and I senator,” said Poghisio.
The former minister who was speaking on Monday did not disclose the party he will be using to seek the position but instead urged Pokot residents to form own political parties.
“Even during Jubilee merger in Nairobi, you will realise that leaders of the parties got recognition during the formation of Jubilee. We will take a party and own it and that is the only way we will get recognition from other parties,” he quoted by Citizen Tv.
In 2002, Poghisio had won the parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket before moving to Kanu, a party he used to win his re-election in 2007.
