Lemi Muia, who once served in the Water docket as the chief officer, has accused the governor of failure to heed to professional advice with regard to county’s water program.

Lemi also dismissed the much publicized ‘water mapping’ exercise that the county government carried out last year, terming it as ‘a clever propaganda tool’ to hoodwink residents of Machakos.

“There was nothing like water mapping for purposes of providing water services to residents. That was a mere money siphoning scheme hatched to facilitate massive looting of public money from the county coffers,” said Lemi.

He spoke in Masinga sub-county at deputy governor Bernard Kiala’s Mukusu home where Kiala launched a comprehensive civic education program dubbed ‘Ugatuzi na Kiala.’

Lemi, who has also declared his interest for the Yatta parliamentary seat currently held by Francis Mwangangi claimed Dr Mutua had ordered him to falsely testify against Kiala on fabricated corruption charges, but he declined to do so.

“My problems with Mutua started the moment I declined to obey his orders to fix Kiala on alleged abuse of office accusations leveled against him at the time,” he added.

Lemi, and several other county staff were interdicted by Governor Mutua last month in what the governor termed as ‘a purge on lazy and corrupt individuals in his government.
