Nelson Mlang'at, a former street kid is among 16 children who will benefit from the Equity Bank's Wings to Fly education sponsorship from Uasin Gishu county.Mlang'at, 16, studied only in the last term before sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination (KCPE) at Natimeri Primary school in West Pokot where he scored 371 marks.Speaking at the Uasin Gishu County headquarters in Eldoret town on Friday during the flagging off of the wings to fly beneficiaries, Mlang'at said he lived on the streets for over 7 years."I was a street kid in Kitale town for about four years after I dropped out of school in class three then went back to class six before again finding my way back to the streets in Eldoret town," he explained."Circumstances forced me to be on the streets but the passion of going on with my studies helped me go back to class and was able to finally do my exams," he added. The former street child couldn't hide his joy of getting the sponsorship and now his dream of becoming a doctor seems to be way on course. He has been selected to join Chewoyet boys for his Secondary education."I am very happy for being among the few who will benefit from this sponsorship and I will do my best and work towards being a doctor," said Mlang'at.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Uasin Gishu County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
