Former Tinet councillor David Sitienei has urged the county government to consider distributing equal job opportunities to all ethnic groups including the marginalised ones.

Speaking on Monday at Tinet, Rongai Sub County, Sitienei said that for a long time, 'small' tribes have been given a raw deal when it comes to the distribution of public jobs.

“Communities like the Ogiek and other marginalised communities have not been considered in the allocations of county jobs. We want all eligible candidates from different communities to be recruited in county's posts without discrimination,” said Sitenei.

He said that the Ogiek community has educated elite yet its contribution in the growth of the county has been ignored.

Sitienei also called on the political outfits to stop ignoring Ogiek's contribution to growth of wealth in the county.

He urged the county government to hire workers fairly and distribute the public positions to all ethnic communities.

Sitienei noted that discrimination in allocation of jobs and resources is a major threat to national cohesion.

The former civic leader said that the fair and balanced distribution of the public positions would enable all ethnic communities to live in peace

“The purpose of avoiding discordance in the communities is to distribute the county's resources equally,” said Sitenei.
