Former Labour Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi is fighting for his political after failing in his bid to oust Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi.Kambi who parted ways with President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration over corruption claims rejoined politics with the aim of making a political comeback during the August 8 poll.However, he suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the ODM stalwart.The 55-year-old politician was elected to parliament in 2007 on a KANU ticket to represent Kaloleni Constituency and went on to become a key member of President Mwai Kibaki's PNU wing of the grand coalition government.However, he failed to defend his seat during the 2013 elections after losing to Gunga Mwinga. After Jubilee formed government, he was given a lifeline when he was appointed to cabinet.Kambi who never wanted to associate himself with any presidential candidate ahead of the August 8 poll has since gravitated back towards Uhuru's Jubilee Party and has vowed to support his re-election bid.Uhuru will face off with NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga in the October 17 contest.With ODM being the most dominant party in Kilifi, Kambi's political future will be pegged on his next move on the political chessboard.
