Former Labour Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi who is contesting the governor seat raised Sh60 million from friends at a dinner held over the weekend.

Kambi who is running on a Kadu-Asili Party ticket will face ODM’s Amason Kingi and David Munga’ro of Jubilee.

"I am not only humbled by your presence at this function but also the trust and goodwill you have bestowed upon me. We are sure of victory comrades. Let's press on," said Kambi.

Kambi was sacked by President Uhuru Kenyatta last year over graft allegations.

The allegations were later dismissed.

Among the key aspirants who mobilized resources for the event were running mate Maureen Mwangovya, senatorial hopeful and former Malindi MP Lucas Maitha, Kilifi North aspirant Pascal Maitha and his Magarini counterpart Franco Esiposito alias Kasoso wa Baya.
