Mr Farah has asked the Deputy President to support the constitutional amendments that will usher in a parliamentary system.

The former Lagdera MP contended that a parliamentary system would give Ruto a better chance to ascend to the presidency.

''If I were Ruto's advisor, I would advise his to support the parliamentary system. I honestly think that he stands a better chance by supporting a parliamentary system,'' Mr Maalim said.

Maalim was speaking on Monday in a panel discussion on an early television programme.

His words come in the context of an animated public debate on the prospect of constitutional amendments that will fundamentally change the country's governance structure.

The amendment idea was fronted by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who has hailed it as a panacea to some of the issues that the country is grappling with.
