Former deputy speaker Farah Maalim has weighed in on the cold-blood murder of Meru University's student leader Evans Njoroge.
He said that university's students' secretary-general had been pursued by officers for kilometres before being shot while on his knees.
Hon. Maalim also revealed that the student leader was the only son in his family and that much had been invested in his education.
''The killing of the Meru University student leader happened after being chased for kilometres. I am told that he was basically on his knees when he was shot. I am told he's the only son and the family had invested so much in his education. They are very devastated. These extrajudicial killings must stop,'' he said.
Hon. Maalim was speaking today in an early morning television panel discussion.
He called on the top brass of the police to swing into action to ensure that those responsible for the cold-blood killing were held to account.
Evans Njoroge's killing triggered a huge outcry especially on social media, with scores of Kenyans condemning the killing and calling for action to be taken against the culprits.
