According to Farah, there was no sincerity in the handshake and it was majorly informed by 2022 power politics.

''Let me tell you this. There is no sincerity in politics. There is no sincerity in this handshake between Uhuru and Raila. It is all about 2022,'' the former Lagdera lawmaker said.

Mr. Maalim was speaking on Monday during an early morning panel discussion on a mainstream television station.

His strong words come in the wake of a public debate on what the handshake portends for the country.

Maalim joins a growing chorus of leaders who see the handshake as a ploy aimed at capturing power in 2022 and locking out some people.

Raila Odinga has maintained that the handshake was about beginning the process of healing the country long ravaged by ethnic divisions.
