Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Sam Nyamweya, has taken a swipe at the current regime led by Nick Mwendwa saying they are mismanaging football in the country.
Mwendwa ousted Nyamweya during the elections in 2016 and the veteran football administrator, who is reportedly planning to vie for the post during the 2020 election, says the Mwendwa administration is not managing the game properly.
“Our football has gone 20 years back. The current regime is mismanaging the game, there is no improvement. We expected CHAN to take off but unfortunately, it did not,"
The government does not run the football, that is the duty of FKF and that is why I put the blame on the federation,” he said during an interview with a local tv station.
He, however, didn’t confirm nor deny reports indicating he is making a comeback into football management.
“I will not talk about that right now, the right time for that will come. It’s not a politics season,” he added.
Nyamweya has been in football management since the 1990s.
