Senior superintendent, Maithya Shedrack, who was the Garissa County Commander, filed a case before the High Court claiming that he was unfairly sacked.

The NPSC commission in its sacking recommendations stated that Maithya had undervalued his house and also failed to adequately convince them of where his massive source of wealth emanated from.

Moreover, the commission discovered that he was running a successful breakdown business, which conflicted with his duties as a police officer.

However, Maithya said the land rover being used to run the business, was not his belonged to his wife, who is also a police officer.

“There has never been a single complaint of corruption about the acquisition of the house before the respondent to warrant an inference that my client's house was obtained through fraudulent schemes," the court documents filed by lawyer Kithi George read in part.
