This has emerged after the National Police Service said the former DCI boss Musa Yego, Administration Police commander Christopher Muthee and the county police boss Charles Wabugu would go off for a compulsory retirement.

Ong’ombe appeared on the public spotlight over allegations that he ordered the immediate withdrawal of a metal detectors just before the deadly attack.

Investigations into the attack concluded that there was no sufficient evidence to charge six other senior security officials in Garissa. Instead, they unanimously recommended they be dealt with by their employer.

Former Garissa commissioner Njenga Miiri has since been reinstated back and moved to Sheria House as a senior security adviser.

An independent report by the Internal Affairs unit under the headship of Leo Nyongesa, has, however, contradicted and faulted the findings by the DCI.

Nyongesa's report distanced the station commander from being accused, stating that he was new in Garissa during the time of incident and, therefore, cannot be accused of negligence.
