Former Gor Mahia midfield maestro Collins ‘Gatusso’ Okoth has joined traditional rivals AFC Leopards, reports Nation Sports.
According to the report, AFC Leopards Club Secretary General Oscar Igaida confirmed the defensive midfielder has agreed a one and a half year contract deal with the club, after recommendation from head coach Robert Matano.
“He is a player the coach wanted and we had to sign him,” Igaida is quoted by Nation Sport.
The 31 year old combative midfielder is regarded highly by Coach Matano. “I like his pace, strength, work rate and creative play style,” says coach Matano.
The two are not strange to each other, having worked together at Tusker FC some years back.
Collins ‘Gatusso’ Okoth was released by Gor Mahia in June last year, after his contract with the 2017 Kenya Premier League Champions came to an end. He did not join any team after being released by Kogallo. The midfielder also played for Sofapaka some time back.
Apart from Gatusso, AFC Leopards management has signed other players within the country, and from foreign countries.
Those singed from beyond our borders are Henry Uche Ifeanyi from Nigeria, Prince Arkoh and Erick Oduro from Ghana and Baker Lukooya from Uganda.
Kenyans singed by Ingwe are: Brian Marita, Ezekiel Otuoma from Western, Ezekiel Owade from Nakumatt FC, Ezekiel Odera from City Stars, Maingi Nassir from Kakamega High School, Moses Mburu from KCB and Jaffery Owiti from Chemelil Sugar FC.
AFC Leopards will represent Kenya in the CAF confederations Cup from next month, by virtue of being current holders of the GOTV Shield.
