Former Government pathologist Moses Njue has been charged with stealing the heart of a deceased man.\
Njue appeared in court On Tuesday alongside his son Lemuel Anasha Mureithi Njue.
According to the prosecution, Njue stole the heart that came to his possession as the pathologist in charge during a postmortem exercise of the late Timothy Mwandi Muumba on June 25, 2015.
Njue, who pleaded not guilty, also faces a second count of destroying evidence during the postmortem at Lee Funeral Home, Nairobi.
The accused appeared before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi also faces a third count of illegal removal of a body part.
Through his lawyers, the former pathologist told the court that the charges are related to a similar matter filed by the deceased family at the High Court.
He requested that the court defer the plea hearing to a later date.
