The long wait for title deeds in sections of Nakuru County is over after the government through the Ministry of Lands on Monday launched a project aimed at ensuring all valid land owners acquire the all important document.
This is aimed at earmarking individuals encroaching on public land after the county was identified as a hot spot for land irregularities by the National Land Commission.
Speaking after launching the exercise at the Molo sub-county headquarters, Lands PS Mariamu El Maawy expressed confidence in having all public land recovered arguing that the ministry was in possession of documents for any piece of land owned by the government.
"Today, we are here to roll out a titling programme that will see former IDPs and other legal land owners given title deeds as we move towards re-dispossessing any public land encroached on by private developers," she said.
The PS will be in the county for the better part of this week as the ministry seeks to visit all the 47 counties in an effort of solving any land issues.
"We have identified key thematic areas for the clean up exercise that is expected to be undertaken in partnership with all the 47 counties," she added.
Its was during the function that it was announced that Kasarani residents in Elburgon will receive a waiver on land rates from the county government.
