Former influential Cabinet Minister in retired Mwai Kibaki's administration has announced he will be running for a parliamentary seat in the August 8 elections.
Amos Kimunya, who served as Transport Minister in the Grand Coalition government, said he will be seeking to reclaim his Kipipiri MP seat.
Kimunya had served as the area legislator for 10 years before he was dislodged by his former ally Samuel Gichigi on March 4, 2013 election.
After the results were announced, Kimunya immediately wrote to his constituents accusing them of not appreciating his good work.
He said he will be vying on President Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee Party ticket. The ex-MP was a prominent figure during President Mwai Kibaki’s rule, having served as Finance minister during his first term.
He stepped down from Treasury after Parliament accused him of misleading Kenyans on the sale of the Grand Regency Hotel.
While declaring his bid for the MP post, Kimunya said the people of Nyandarua have been urging him to run for governor but he chose to serve in the National Assembly.
