Speaking on Radio Jambo Saturday, the ex-Jubilee legislator proposed changes to allocate more power to the opposition wing, stressing on the need to channel more privileges to the leader of opposition.

According to the lawmaker, this will solve the recurrent exclusion complaints after each presidential race, with the loser too being legally acknowledged.

''We should consider establishing a law that will legally recognize the opposition and its leader. The current opposition leader should be entitled to more privileges and a salary courtesy of the government,'' he said.

He also endorsed the move as the best solution to the ongoing executive expansion constitutional amendment push, noting that a referendum of such magnitude will be disadvantageous to the nation which is yet to recover from last year's polls.

''There is need for a more inclusive system of leadership but that does not mean that everyone must be in government. The nation needs an opposition. I will, therefore, support all attempts to empower the opposing side,'' he added.

This comes amid a push by a section of leaders allied to opposition leader Raila Odinga who are championing for the introduction of more executive seats for a more accommodative government.
