Former Makadara Member of Parliament Benson Mutura has faulted the aftermath of the March 9 truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Radio Jambo Saturday, the ex-lawmaker opposed the recently launched 14 member reconciliation team formed to spearhead the national healing campaign.
Citing the team's exclusivity, Mutura said that it will have an uphill task convincing Kenyans, especially the excluded groups, including the youth, into embracing its proposals aimed at achieving the leaders' national cohesion dream.
"The committee is discriminative and has excluded the youth, Muslims and other important groups of Kenyans. The same people are likely to retaliate by opposing its proposals and conclusions as they were not consulted," he said.
He added that it has as well left out the remaining part of the Odinga-led National Super Alliance (NASA) opposition block following the recent fallout, urging the leader to consult his co-principals in the alliance with regards to the same.
In a quick rejoinder, however, incumbent Makadara lawmaker George Aladwa rubbished the claims noting that NASA is fully included in Odinga's side of the team.
"It is wrong to say that a section of NASA is excluded in the team. All member parties of the alliance have been consulted as we realize that this is a pursuit for unity and everyone must be brought on board," said Aladwa.
