Former Kitui senator David Musila has clarified that he has not permanently joined President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.
Musila states that he is only supporting Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election.
In an interview with the Kituionline.com on Tuesday, Musila said that the notion being created that he is in Uhuru’s party is false.
“My supporters should know that I didn’t join Jubilee party, I am only supporting Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election,” he said as quoted by Kituionline.com.
Musila who unsuccessfully contested for the Kitui governor seat in the August 8 general election has been under criticism from a section of opposition Kamba politicians and locals for supporting Jubilee.
The former Kalonzo Musyoka ally is leading UhuRuto’s re-election campaigns in Kitui and has vowed to ensure they harvest majority votes in repeat election.
The former Wiper party chairman says that Ukambani is no longer an opposition zone.
Musila adds that opposition has nothing to offer the region and that it’s only Uhuru who can end the problems facing the region.
The former senator who fell out with Kalonzo has been having hard time selling Jubilee agenda in Kitui.
Last month, Musila’s UhuRuto campaign motorcade was attacked by rowdy youths in Mwingi town forcing him and others to flee.
Ukambani region overwhelmingly voted for NASA in the August 8 general election and Jubilee is keen to have a share of the numbers ahead of the repeat presidential election.
This comes as NASA leader Raila Odinga has formally withdrawn from participating in the October repeat presidential poll.
Raila withdrew from the race on Tuesday claiming that IEBC and Jubilee are not ready for credible repeat election.
