A former aide de camp to Ex-president Mwai Kibaki has denied claims that he used witchcraft during the August 8 elections to win the Mbeere South parliamentary seat.

This was after witnesses in the Mbeere South election petition made the accusations before the court on Thursday.

The Rtd Colonel Geoffrey King'ang'i termed the allegations as pure lies and claimed the witness is being used by his accuser, Kamau Nyutu.

According to the witness, Kevin Murimi, King'ang'i used two witch doctors to give voters raw meat in a ritual to elect him on August 8. The witness further said the voters were given Sh500 each during the alleged ceremony on July 22.

Murimi told the court that he was among the people who slaughtered the bull which was used for the ritual.

He, however, noted that he did not eat the raw meat because he left before the ritual was conducted.

Murimi also did not mention the locals alleged to have eaten the raw meat. He also didn't reveal names of the witches whom he claimed administered the oath but noted they are well-known.

Murimi further told the court that the petitioner used him as a spy on King’ang’i so that he can testify to some of the things he collected.

King’ang’i, however, defended himself saying Murimi is being used by Nyutu to taint his name.

King’ang’i got 18,225 votes against Nyutu’s 2,810 in the poll.
